5. Now What?
We hope these blogs from one of our members will remind you that you are not alone and that others understand exactly what you are going through.
You are bald and/or burned. The past months have been an out-of-body experience. You’ve been educated on a subject you had no desire to learn. BUT, you are still on this side of the grass! Wow, maybe cancer isn’t always a death sentence.” Now what…
You’ve had legions of professionals, with more degrees than a thermometer, at your beck and call. They have been watching you, monitoring you, doing everything in their power to rid you of that nasty disease. And then one day they say to you. “Congratulations, you are done. B-Bye. See you in 6 months.” What? Who is going to make sure it doesn’t come back next week?
Ta Da! Remember the survivors? Yes, they have been through it. They understand. They want to help you. You have become part of a global fellowship. You are not alone.
Some survivors want to move on with their lives and forget it ever happened. Respect that, and them. Some want to talk about it incessantly, as if they’ve been victimized. Not healthy! The majority have been permanently affected (see 9/11 analogy in the previous blog), but they move on.
